SEA-PHAGES is a two-semester undergraduate research program administered by the University of Pittsburgh's Graham Hatfull's group and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Science Education Division.

The SEA-PHAGES program has two primary research components: phage discovery and genome analysis. During phage discovery, student researchers first isolate, purify, and then amplify new phages collected from environmental samples.
