A top adviser to President Joe Biden says the deadly wildfires in the Los Angeles area are the latest sign of the growing threat posed by climate change — one that President-elect Donald Trump will have to take more seriously than he did in his first term.

U.S. President Joe Biden canceled an upcoming trip to Italy due to the wildfires in California, the White House said on Wednesday, adding that he wanted to focus on directing the full federal response to the fires.

Hunter Biden was originally notified his house was likely "burned to the ground," President Biden said, but now "it appears it may still be standing."

The Republican president-elect and Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom have had a rocky relationship for years.
