Six Flags announced recently it would close two of its theme parks, including one by the end of the year. Unlike the abrupt closure of Kingda Ka at Great Adventure at the end of 2024, Six Flags has given more notice to theme park goers about which parks will be closing.

After razing the New Jersey ride — once known as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world — the amusement-resort operator has announced the closure of two Six Flags properties: Six Flags America & Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland, and California’s Great America in Santa Clara.

The Maryland park will close first, ceasing operations in November of this year while the California park will remain open until 2027.
