HOUSTON (AP) — The Athletics have shut down pitcher Jose Leclerc and say the reliever will have right shoulder surgery. The A's Brian Schulman, the director of sports medicine and performance, said Friday that Dr. Keith Meister will perform the surgery in Dallas “in the upcoming weeks.”

Olympic pommel horse champion Rhys McClenaghan has undergone surgery on a shoulder injury. McClenaghan has not competed since winning Olympic gold in Paris last summer and said he had been "struggling with this injury for a while now".
