Another Oklahoma State commit is heading to the major leagues. On Sunday, the 2025 MLB Draft got underway, with Ethan Holliday going fourth overall to the Colorado Rockies. Holliday was the top high school player in the country coming out of Stillwater and was committed to play for the Cowboys.
The first three rounds will take place on Sunday, with Rounds 4-20 continuing Monday. The Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals own the first five picks, respectively. In addition to the first pick, Washington holds picks No. 49 and No. 80 in the first three rounds.
The first 105 picks in the 2025 draft process will take place on Sunday night. The first round only features 27 picks this year as the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees were all stripped of their first-round selections as penalties for spending above luxury-tax thresholds.
There are several notable names heading into this year’s draft, with the Washington Nationals having a tough decision with the first overall pick. A lot of people are looking at infielder Ethan Holliday, the top-rated prospect, despite just coming out of Stillwater High School in Oklahoma.
