People gathered Saturday on Governors Drive in Huntsville and in communities across the state of Alabama for “ No Kings” demonstrations to protest the direction of the country under President Donald Trump.

From Selma to Birmingham, Saturday's demonstrations drew those unhappy with the state of the nation's leadership to the streets and the public square.

A second round of “No Kings” protests will take place on Saturday, with numerous protest locations throughout Alabama.

No Kings’ protests will be in Alabama on Oct. 18, with marches and rallies scheduled from Huntsville to Mobile as part of a nationwide movement.

Protesters packed both sides of Governors Drive in Huntsville for several blocks in one of at least a dozen "No Kings" rallies in Alabama on Oct. 18.

The City Hall rally lasted through 6 p.m. and included speakers and a march around downtown Houston. There were also local protests in Kingwood, The Woodlands, Katy, Cypress, Conroe, Richmond, Pasadena, Huntsville, and Pearland.

Organizers say the energy Saturday will be a message to both Trump and elected Democratic leaders that people want change.
