Dick Van Dyke recently attended the Vandy High Tea event in Malibu, Calif. and joked about his landmark 100th birthday, which is coming up later this year in December. The icon quipped: “That’s right. I’m not officially 100 until December. Two months. Two months. It’d be funny if I didn’t make it” (via People ).
Dick Van Dyke appeared at the Vandy High Tea event on Oct. 5 and joked that it would be 'funny' if he 'didn't make it' to 100. His 100th birthday is this December. Van Dyke also said he doesn't know how he's lived so long.
Dick Van Dyke joked at a recent event it would "be funny" if he died before his milestone 100th birthday in December.
While Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remains one of Dick Van Dyke’s legendary roles, it was also one where the veteran comedian felt very self-conscious, primarily because of something he heard on the set. Van Dyke went on to enjoy a tremendous career.
During the event, Dick led a sing-along for a young fan, Tristian, who was celebrating his 6th birthday. He and his mother traveled from Connecticut to see Van Dyke in person, and the child held on to Bert and Mary Poppins dolls during the gathering.
Dick Van Dyke "couldn't be happier" as he looks forward to turning 100 in December, and his fitness routine had singer Rick Springfield in awe.
At the very least, it’s a pretty funny thing for a 99 year old to say. Van Dyke has a dark sense of humor sometimes (“Fortunately I won’t be around to experience the four years,” he said after the most recent presidential election).
