Jerry DiPoto signaled that the Mariners intended to be buyers this summer, with a 1.5-game lead in the race for a Wild Card spot and one of the best and deepest rotations in baseball. The Mariners traded Izzi to the Diamondbacks on Thursday alongside Brandyn Garcia in exchange for Josh Naylor, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Izzi has spent all of 2025 with the Mariners' High-A affiliate,

While Naylor may not be the impact bat that the Mariners had been shopping for, he does have plenty of power. He hit 31 homers as part of an All-Star season for Cleveland in 2024 and should provide more power for a Marines lineup that could use a boost.

The Diamondbacks continued to make deals Saturday, trading outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Royals, according to a baseball source. The club has not confirmed, and the return is not known at this time.
