Sam Kerr should "definitely" remain skipper of the Australian women's football squad and has the full backing of her team-mates, the vice-captain said Tuesday after calls for the star striker to be stripped of the armband.

Sam Kerr is welcome back in the Australia camp and has her teammates' support to resume the captaincy when fit to play, according to midfielder Emily van Egmond.

Sam Kerr will face no further disciplinary action from Football Australia after an internal review of the events from February’s court case. The 31-year-old Chelsea striker was found not guilty of racially aggravated harassment of a police officer following a seven-day trial last month.
