The publisher didn't provide specific details on the issue, but the game's removal comes shortly after severe hacking claims.

Following widespread reports of RCE exploits, Activision has officially brought the Call of Duty: World War II game offline for Xbox Game Pass users.

Many fans were quick to blast Activision for not addressing the game's hacking issue before putting it on Xbox Game Pass, and it's still not exactly clear if the sudden server downtime is to address the problem, as the studio was incredibly vague in its statement.
