The Blue Jays have been tied to Anthony Santander as much as any team in recent weeks. While there’s still no agreement in place, Shi Davidi and Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet report that the Jays’ talks with the free agent slugger “picked up” this morning.

Sure, the Blue Jays need to sign someone, lest they risk angering superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and dissuading him from re-signing with the club. But there's another switch-hitter on the open market that might make just as much sense for Toronto as Santander does.
