The Philadelphia Flyers suffered a tough 5-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 29. During this matchup, the Devils had far more control than the Flyers and took advantage of it. This was especially true during the second period when the Devils scored four times.

Andrei Kuzmenko was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers by the Calgary Flames for Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee on Thursday. The Flyers also acquired Jakob Pelletier, a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and a seventh-round pick in the 2028 Draft.

A hard hit on Flyers wing Owen Tippett by Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon in the first period might have gotten the Flyers off their game somewhat. No penalty was called on the play, which resulted in the Flyers trying to exact revenge throughout the first half of the game action.

John Tortorella didn’t have much of an update on Owen Tippett aside from the news that the Flyers’ winger won’t be available Thursday night.

The Flyers face off against the New York Islanders for the third time this month on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
