With season 2 of the anime series now in full swing, South Korean production company Kakao Entertainment has just announced plans for a live-action adaptation. Solo Leveling originated as a South Korean web novel, exploring a portal fantasy adventure story about a monster hunter.

Based on a manhwa by author Chugong, Solo Leveling revolves around the story of Jinwoo, a hapless hunter struggling through dungeons full of monsters. One day, however, he stumbles upon 'The System', a program that allows him to level up and tackle increasingly fearsome threats.

Solo Leveling started as a web novel by Chugong and was adapted into a manhwa in 2018 with illustrations by Dubu. The anime adaptation, which premiered in January 2024, is produced by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online), with motion graphics by Production I.G (Attack on Titan, PSYCHO-PASS).

The live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling is officially in development, with Kakao Entertainment confirming the news on January 21, 2025. The series is currently in the planning and scriptwriting phase,
