The Los Angeles Angels are searching for their next manager after making the decision to fire Ron Washington. Washington is a well-liked and respected figure throughout MLB, but concerns about his health have become a major issue. Letting him go was anything but easy for the Angels.
Manager Ron Washington will not return to the Los Angeles Angels in 2026, the team announced Tuesday. Interim manager Ray Montgomery is also not expected to be back, though the team has not yet announced any changes to their staff. It is unclear if GM Perry Minasian will remain with the Angels.
Washington first took over the job in 2024. The Angels finished dead-last in the AL West, going 63-99. There were reasons for optimism in 2025 given some of the young talent on the roster coupled with the signings of some veterans with a proven track record (such as Yusei Kikuchi).
