Michigan's minimum wage will increase twice in 2025 after the Michigan Supreme Court ruling earlier this year.

Michigan workers can expect two increases in the minimum wage next year. The first raise will be a modest $0.23 hourly increase on Jan. 1 for non-tipped workers. The first bump for people who make tips comes out to an extra $0.08 an hour.

Starting Jan. 1, the minimum hourly wage will increase from $10.33 to $10.56 an hour. The minimum wage for minors will increase from $8.78 to $8.89 an hour, and the tipped hourly wage will increase from $3.

Workers can expect two increases in 2025, with the second bumping the minimum wage up by almost $2. While it's the state's responsibility to update the base wage rate that businesses must pay their employees, the upcoming hike is tied to a court ruling earlier this year.

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia and Washington raised their minimum wage on Jan. 1, according to an ABC News report.
