These units are the first of six helicopters ordered by the Indian Army. A dedicated Apache squadron has already been raised in Jodhpur to oversee operations and deployment near the western border.

Earlier these helicopters were only with the Indian Air Force which operates 22 of these flying beasts. The deployment of additional six Apache’s will add more strength to the Army’s Aviation Corps.
