SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Missouri added a testing option for people who want to get their high school diploma. The state offers two options: the GED test and the HiSET test.
The GED is only offered in an online format, available in English and Spanish, but test-takers have the option to complete it at home or in person at an official testing center.
The vast majority of adult education classes are tuition-free. Students may face fees for the GED or HiSET tests or practice tests, assessment tests, textbooks and other materials used in the courses.

The GED and HiSET tests assess competency of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The complete test is referred to as the battery.
Overall, the program saw 59 students earn their high school equivalency, either by taking the GED or HiSet exam, including students at Hyde Correctional Institution and Tyrrell Prison Work Farm.
