In Sunday’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc started from pole position ahead of Oscar Piastri and pulled away from the McLaren driver over the first portion of the race. While Leclerc’s SF-24 was dialed in on the medium compound, Piastri’s MCL38 fell off the pace as the driver dealt with higher tire degradation.

Oscar Piastri's Azerbaijan Grand Prix win pushed McLaren to the top of the constructors' standings, 20 points ahead of Red Bull. The race concluded with a virtual safety car after a collision between Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez.

Oscar Piastri was able to score his second career Formula 1 victory in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday (Sept. 15). It didn’t come easy for the Aussie, however, as he had to overcome a very long fight with Leclerc to take the win.
