Former Formula One world champion Damon Hill admitted he was "very sad and shocked" on Thursday by news of the death of his former boss Eddie Jordan in South Africa.The 76-year-old Irishman revealed in December he was suffering with bladder and prostate cancer which had spread to his spine and pelvis.

F1 legend Eddie Jordan has died aged 76 following a battle with cancer. The Irishman, who launched an F1 team in his own name in 1991, revealed at the end of last year that he was suffering from both bladder and prostate cancer, which had spread to his spine and pelvis.

By 1991, Jordan Grand Prix hit the F1 grid, a team which would win four grands prix and captured the hearts of F1 fans around the globe. Seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, plus Grand Prix winners including Ralf Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Eddie Irvine, all owe their big breaks in F1 to Jordan after debuting with his team.
