Mikel Arteta hailed Max Dowman as a “special” talent after he made history for Arsenal. Dowman became Arsenal’s youngest-ever senior starter when he was picked in the team to face Brighton at the age of just 15 years and 302 days.

Dowman’s presence in the makes him the youngest starter in the club’s illustrious history at just 15 years and 302 days, beating the previous record set by fellow academy graduate Jack Porter in the Carabao Cup last term—the goalkeeper making his senior debut against Bolton Wanderers at 16 years and 72 days.

Max Dowman's first start for Arsenal was further reward for his progress this season. The 15-year-old was one of Arsenal's most dangerous players on the senior team's pre-season tour of Asia, winning penalties against Newcastle and Villarreal, and he continued that promise with another solid performance against Brighton.
