Joel Embiid will miss the rest of the season, with the Philadelphia 76ers saying he is “medically unable to play” and will focus on treatment and rehabilitation of his left knee.

Joel Embiid remained on the 76ers’ bench with Saturday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets on the line because Guerschon Yabusele was a more impactful option. The event was likely an embarrassing moment for the 7-foot-2 center who was the NBA’s most dominant player the past two seasons.

Embiid was hobbled all season by a left knee that probably need more post-surgery recovery time during the offseason.

Last season, Embiid was in the midst of one of the most prolific individual campaigns in NBA history before tearing the meniscus in his left knee. He’s struggled this year to gain full strength.
