He's only 26 years old, but Mikhail Sergachev has been one of Utah's most important players this season. What will they do without him?
Over the last five games, Utah HC has played without defenseman Mikahail Sergachev. But tonight, Sergachev is back in the starting lineup and only playing his third game with Utah defenseman John Marino, who was out the first half of the season due to back surgery.
Sergachev will return from a five-game absence to play on the top pairing and first power-play unit. He had been limited to three helpers and a minus-7 rating over his first seven appearances in January before the injury,
Sergachev (upper body) will be a game-time decision against Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports. Sergachev has been out of action for Utah's last five outings but appears to be nearing a return to the lineup.
Marino wasn't the only defenseman to step up with Sergachev out. Michael Kesselring was elevated to the top power-play unit and didn't take long to find success. Kesselring scored Utah's opening goal on the man advantage in the first period.
With a little more than a minute remaining in overtime on Wednesday, Crosby swung to the front of the net and put in a beauty of a backhander.
Sidney Crosby scored with 1:06 left in overtime as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Utah Hockey Club 3-2 at Delta Center on Wednesday. It was Crosby’s 95th career
Marcus Pettersson and Erik Karlsson scored in regulation as Pittsburgh snapped a three-game losing streak. Alex Nedeljkovic made 27 saves.
Pittsburgh completed its comeback against Utah HC after Sidney's Crosby goal in overtime gave it a 3-2 win. Goals shots were hard to come by in overtime as both Utah and Pittsburgh only managed one shot each. But it only takes one shot to change an outcome of a game... especially when Sidney Crosby is the one taking it.
Sidney Crosby scored in overtime to cap a two-point game as the Pittsburgh Penguins earned a 3-2 victory over the Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday in Salt Lake City.
According to Cole Bagley, Utah Hockey Club defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) is expected to be a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 26-year-old defenseman has missed the previous five contests with this injury.
