PSG had an impressive run in the last campaign, where they claimed the Ligue 1 title and their first-ever Champions League title, and the French side exhibited the same stride in the Club World Cup. They won five out of their six matches in the competition prior to the final.

After a dominant run to the Club World Cup final, PSG looked like a shell of itself as Chelsea claimed the victory with a 3-0 rout. Cole Palmer opened the scoring for the Premier League side in the 22nd minute with a tucked finish to the bottom left corner, out of the reach of PSG goalie Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Paris looked good in the opening round, only losing to Botafogo while winning Group B. Then, they hammered the likes of Inter Miami, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to get the final match, outscoring their opponents 10-0 in the knockout stage thus far.
