Thirty years after Pizza Hut introduced stuffed crust, Domino's Pizza is introducing its own take on the now-classic menu item. Domino's worked on its own version for three years to make sure it got the item right.

Domino’s is launching a stuffed crust pizza. The move comes roughly 30 years after Pizza Hut invented the category, using Donald Trump in its commercials. To commemorate the launch, Domino’s will give away a quarter-million dollars’ worth of pies.

Domino’s was the only publicly traded pizza chain to report a same-store sales growth with Pizza Hut and Papa John’s both reporting a decline in sales. All three chains are being affected by consumers cutting back on their spending and increasingly searching for value when they do order.
