In cities both big and small, rural and urban people gathered for 'No Kings' Day protests. There were 11 in Louisiana, with one in Baton Rouge drawing around 1,000 attendees.
Concern over human rights violations, lack of action by the U.S. Congress and frustration with President Donald Trump's administration were some of the reasons that brought over 200 people to the No Kings 2.0 Alexandria rally.

NEW ORLEANS — Thousands gathered on Lafitte Greenway to take part in "No Kings 2.0." rally in New Orleans Saturday. The event is part of National No Kings Day of Peaceful Action, which includes about 2,650 demonstrations across the U.S.
The protest, organized by Indivisible Baton Rouge, drew a crowd in the hundreds who lined the edge of BREC's Perkins Road Community Park armed with drums, signs, slogans, jokes and costumes.

More 'No Kings' protests to take place in October. Here's where events will be in Louisiana
The No Kings protest in Lafayette will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Prejean Unity Point, located at 735 Jefferson St., from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. This event meets ADA standards, with mainly flat ground and a wheelchair ramp available.
