Lynch and Jan Wolfe WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Former FBI Director James Comey on Monday asked a federal judge to dismiss criminal charges against him, arguing that the U.S. attorney who brought the case was unlawfully appointed and that he is being unfairly targeted because of President Donald Trump's "personal spite" against him.

Former FBI Director James Comey, a longtime foe of President Trump, appeared in Virginia for an arraignment, in his first court appearance since he was charged.

The lawyer defending James Comey against charges he lied to Congress might need to be kicked off the case over his alleged involvement in media leaks, the feds claim.
