Fortune’s Run is a sci-fi immersive sim about surviving the industrial wreckage of Earth after humanity has escaped to the stars. The shooter RPG blew some critics away when they tried the demo back in 2023. Now the early access game’s future has been plunged into uncertainty after its developer revealed they’re going to prison.

The developer of well-received Steam Early Access first-person shooter Fortune's Run has ceased work on the game after receiving a three-year prison sentence. In a shock announcement on the Fortune’s Run Steam page,

The sole developer of a Steam first-person shooter announces work on the game will pause for an extended time while they serve a prison sentence.

In case you've not heard of it, Fortune's Run is a first-person shooter with immersive sim elements and an aesthetic not too dissimilar to Doom. Due to its "large scope," the game was released on Steam in early access in September 2023.

Announced originally during the Realms Deep event in 2021, and later released into Early Access on Steam in 2023, Fortune's Run is a highly rated immersive-sim FPS but now its future is uncertain.
