CLEVELAND, Ohio - You might have missed the shuttered Rainforest during recent visits to Cleveland’s zoo, but the orangutans have missed you as well. You’ll be reunited this summer when the Cleveland Metroparks reopens the former Rainforest building as the zoo’s new Primate Forest after nearly two years of renovations and expansion.
An area zoo is mourning the loss of one of its animals. The Cincinnati Zoo announced on social media that Chipo the aardwolf has died at the age of 16. The zoo said Chipo was the last aardwolf at the zoo and in the entire AZA Zoo population.
A zoo worker in northern Japan has been arrested on suspicion of disposing of his wife’s body in an incinerator at the facility.
