The Yankees didn’t have many hitters that handed southpaws well in the first half, but added two right-handed bats who feast on lefties before the July 30 trade deadline, infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario being the other. Rosario was in the Yankees’ lineup on Sunday with the White Sox starting lefty Martin Perez.

The Yankees have tremendous firepower with Judge, Trent Grisham, Cody Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm and Ben Rice all capable of hitting the long ball. Judge hit his 43rd home run in the loss to the White Sox, while Grisham, Bellinger Chisholm and Rice all have 22 home runs or more.

Yankees captain Aaron Judge was the pick all season to make it two MVPs in a row and three for his career, but now Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is the projected winner by some. Others, such as vegasinsider.com, still lists Judge as a slight favorite to beat out Raleigh.

The Yankees vs. Red Sox series will air across three different TV channels. The first game will be available on Fox, with the second and third on MLB Network. The fourth game on Sunday will be available on ESPN. The Friday night game will also be broadcast on Amazon Prime, exclusively in the New York area.

With Anthony Volpe getting benched for Sunday night’s game with the Red Sox, David Cone weighed in on the decision by manager Aaron Boone. Volpe was benched to start the game for Jose Caballero, who went 0-for-3 with an RBI, although Volpe did enter the Yankees 7-2 victory late in the game at shortstop.
