German street names wiped out of Cincinnati after World War I could soon be reinstated, reflecting the resurgence of pride for Cincinnati’s German heritage.
For years, German Street was a major thoroughfare in the Second Ward. Its name served as a reminder of the significant German population that settled in the area in the 19th century.
City leaders and the descendants of German immigrants will gather Thursday in Over-the-Rhine on Yukon Street –soon to once again be Hanover Street.
