Rosemary, an aromatic plant with strong spiritual and religious symbolism, also plays a significant role in this festivity. On Candlemas Day, it's common to have it blessed along with the candles.

In 1975, in fulfillment of a long-held desire to “work in a parish” Sister Rosemary found herself as Director of Religious Education in Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Hartford.
