Minnesota fishing report: Backwaters of the Mississippi River near Lake Pepin are producing panfish.

Fishing guide Travis DeWitt of Ballard’s Resort landed this 27-inch walleye Sunday morning, May 11, 2025, while guiding a group of fishermen on the Rainy River north of Baudette, Minn.

“The water’s so high the fish are being pushed over from Canada, and we’re trapping them here.” Fishing has been good, said longtime Rainy Lake guide Mike Williams of International Falls.
