The federal utility will add 5,500 megawatts of new generation by 2029 ... TVA has projects under construction at the Shawnee plant in Kentucky and the Cumberland and Johnsonville plants in Tennessee.

The funds will also go toward construction of the new Cumberland, Johnsonville and Kingston gas plants, along with solar panels and new technology to cut emissions at the Shawnee coal plant.
