The jersey that Mike Piazza wore in the first post-Sept. 11 game might not go to auction if a private sale ensures it will be displayed publicly.

The jersey worn by former Mets catcher Mike Piazza for a game on Sept. 21, 2001 -- the first regular-season home game in New York after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks -- is up for auction.

Mike Piazza says he has expressed his disappointment to the Mets after learning a jersey he wore in the team's first game back after 9/11 is set to be auctioned off later this month.
