Melbourne Metro Tunnel's Big Switch has officially added extra services for the dedicated Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines.

New timetables are being rolled out across Melbourne's train network, with more than 1,200 extra weekly services commencing from today.

Passengers on two Tuesday afternoon services were stuck in carriages in 30 degree heat for up to two hours after an overhead power line became entangled in equipment.
