An avalanche on Interstate 70 early Tuesday morning hit a semi truck and closed the highway for hours in Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol tweeted out a picture of the truck. It was carrying mail.

All westbound lanes of Interstate 70 are currently closed just before Tower Road in Aurora due to a semitruck crash.

Georgetown reopened to I-70 traffic at 3:10 p.m. after a flood of leaf peepers caused gridlock throughout the mountain community, prompting the sheriff’s office to block highway traffic.

Aurora Police said the semi crashed into the median and is blocking all westbound lanes in the are of Tower Road.
