A man was convicted in a 32-year-old cold case involving the rape and armed burglary of a Norfolk woman. The 1992 case was reopened last year after DNA from the victim’s sexual assault kit was tested and found to match Vernon Lorenzo Gay, according to a news release from the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney.
