The Braves have claimed shortstop Ha-Seong Kim from the Rays on waivers, sources tell @TheAthletic. Kim is owed ~$2M rest of the season and has a $16M player option for next season. Braves get to look at him for a month. Ready to come off IL with lower back inflammation.

The Braves are taking a bit of a gamble on Kim, 29, who was an outstanding all-around player in 2022-2023 and for most of 2024, but has been slowed since then by shoulder surgery in August 2024 and two injured-list stints for low-back inflammation. He played only 24 games for Tampa Bay this season and hit .214 with a career-low .612 OPS.
