A Swiss tourist was killed and another seriously injured on Thursday in a shark attack on a beach near a popular surf spot on Australia's east coast, authorities said.

A woman died and a man was seriously injured after they were attacked by a shark during an early morning swim at a remote beach on Australia’s east coast.

A "large bull shark" was likely responsible for the attack, the Department of Primary Industries said, based on forensic analysis.
