The White Sox lost 121 games in 2024, the most in MLB's modern era, but the Colorado Rockies may overtake them after just one season.

In the top of the fourth inning, consecutive singles by Andrew Benintendi and Miguel Vargas put two on with nobody out for Chicago. After moving to third and second base, respectively, on Brooks Baldwin’s sacrifice bunt, Benintendi and Vargas were joined on the basepaths by Edgar Quero, who walked to load them up for Colson Montgomery.

The Rockies entered the Fourth of July weekend series against the White Sox at Coors Field with a 20-67 record, on pace to lose 125 games. Last season, the White Sox lost 121 games, setting baseball’s modern-era record for ineptitude, surpassing the 1962 Mets, led by “Marvelous Marv” Throneberry and Choo Choo Coleman, who lost 120 games.
