Colombia's President Gustavo Petro averted an economic disaster at the 11th hour after diplomats from his government and the U.S. reached a deal on deportation flights, but the Colombian business community on Monday called for cooler heads to prevail as Colombians bemoaned canceled U.

Trump threatened Colombia with tariffs and a travel ban. Colombia's leader wanted better treatment for deportees. They appear to have reached a compromise.

The Trump administration responded by threatening to slap punitive tariffs on Colombian exports to the US. President Petro at first said Colombia would retaliate by imposing tariffs on US goods, but the White House later announced that Colombia had agreed to accept migrants - including those arriving on US military aircraft - "without limitation or delay".

President Donald Trump on Monday said he would welcome a “bidding war” for TikTok as he appeared to confirm that Microsoft is among the companies that have declared interest in acquiring the popular social media platform.

President Trump said he “would say yes” to Microsoft buying TikTok but maintained that there are many interested parties that will be bidding to buy the app before a 75-day extension to decide its fate expires in April.

The new president is tossing out some of the biggest names in the tech world as possible buyers of TikTok’s US operations, most recently Microsoft. 'I like bidding wars because you make your best deals.
