Bitterly cold conditions will continue through Thursday. A storm system will bring snow showers to Southwest and Central Virginia for the end of the week. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for northwestern Pocahontas County through noon on Thursday.

Brisk northwest winds will carry cold air into Southwest and Central Virginia over the next several days. Mostly to partly sunny skies will be overhead on Thursday. Expect temperatures to start in the sub-freezing 20s and lower 30s before rising into the chilly 30s and 40s by the afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for parts of the Highlands with one to four total inches of snow expected through Thursday morning. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect through noon on Thursday.

Gusty winds, mountain snow showers, and much colder air will kick off the new year in Southwest and Central Virginia. A Wind Advisory will continue for counties along/west of the Blue Ridge through midday on Wednesday.

It's a First Alert Weather Day on Thursday as snow moves into the Denver metro area. The main concern with this system won't be the amount of snowfall but will be with the gusty winds causing areas of blowing snow.

Light morning snow showers could create some issues along the Palmer Divide and east along Interstate 70, but the snow should be done by noon with a breezy wind through the afternoon in the Denver weather forecast.
