Kemon Spell decommitted from the Penn State Nittany Lions last week after the program fired head coach James Franklin. Spell, who is from McKeesport, PA, had been committed to Penn State for over a year.
Franklin recently received a message from Kevin Allar, father of injured Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, and reflected on how neither is with the team Saturday in Iowa City, where the Nittany Lions will face the Hawkeyes. But on the GameDay set, Franklin made it clear that he will coach again, likely as soon as next season.
The Nittany Lions will be led by interim head coach Terry Smith and first-time starting quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer against the Hawkeyes.
Former Penn State coach James Franklin told ESPN's "College GameDay" that he "can't wait" to coach again and plans to "go win a national championship somewhere else now."
Gone are the days of Florida State and Clemson dominating the league, with programs like Virginia and Georgia Tech now having a real shot at the College Football Playoff via the ACC Championship Game. There’s no reason why Virginia Tech couldn’t return to that conversation with the right coach.
