MLB Draft: Memorial pitcher Matthew Fisher selected by Philadelphia Phillies
Fisher becomes the ninth Memorial graduate to be chosen in the MLB Draft. The only others in program history to be chosen straight from the prep ranks were Don Mattingly (1979) and Mark Wezet (1973). Mattingly played 14 years with the New York Yankees; Wezet pitched in college at Murray State.

Fisher is projected to be an early-round selection in the upcoming Major League Baseball Draft, which takes place July 13-14 in Atlanta. The first day will start at 5 p.m. CT and include the first three rounds. The second day will have rounds 4-20.
