Buffalo Bills ' cornerback Maxwell Hairston is in line to make his NFL debut after missing the first seven weeks. Despite not playing at all, Bleacher Report writer Brent Sobleski has deemed Hairston a bust.

While some Buffalo Bills fans are hoping cornerback Maxwell Hairston can help solve the team's issues at the position upon his return from injury, head coach Sean McDermott is pumping the brakes on that notion.

The Buffalo Bills activated rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston off injured reserve a day before they play at the Carolina Panthers.

Bills' rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston is fired up to be closing in on his return from injury and eventually making his NFL debut.

"Bills HC Sean McDermott when asked if he's confident whether CB Maxwell Hairston or K Tyler Bass would play this season," Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports . "He said, 'We'll see.' McDermott did say both are heading in the right direction.

Maxwell Hairston and the Buffalo Bills play the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, in Week 9 of the 2025 season. You can take a look at all of Hairston's key statistics right here. Hairston is not on the injury report this week.
