Jesús Montero, who played four seasons for the Seattle Mariners, has died at 35 following a traffic accident in Venezuela earlier this month.

Jesus Montero, a former Seattle Mariners catcher and onetime top prospect of the New York Yankees, died on Sunday after having been placed in a coma for weeks following a motorcycle accident in his native Venezuela. Montero had been riding his motorcycle in the city of Valencia when he collided with a pickup truck on Oct. 4.

Jesus Montero, who was a highly-touted prospect for the New York Yankees who played one season for the franchise before four more with the Seattle Mariners, died at the age of 35.
