Storms cause flooding along Iowa-Illinois borderParts of the Quad Cities are drying out from strong storms overnight along the Iowa-Illinois border. Flash flooding left waist-high water in Davenport, Iowa.
Recovery efforts are underway in Scott County after significant flooding impacted the area, along with strong winds and severe storms.
Cooler air surging south across the state has confined the severe weather risk to mainly far southern and southeast Iowa. This will likely shift south out of the state within the next 90 minutes. Heavy rain continues closer to the metro, but the severe weather risk is over.
Record rainfall caused street flooding mostly in Davenport and Moline during the evening and nighttime hours Friday.

A flash flood warning was issued for Davenport, Iowa, after over 3.5 inches of rain fell in a short period of time on Friday afternoon. Roads in Davenport were flooded, as the water level continues to rise with more rain expected through the day.
Severe thunderstorms rolled across the Midwest Friday, bringing rounds of damaging wind gusts, torrential rains and even a few reported tornadoes.
The Quad Cities branch of the NWS determined that at least an EF2 tornado touched down in southwest Davenport on Friday around 5 p.m., maintaining 100 to 120 mph winds for much of its 7.2-mile path into Davenport, ending near Kimberly Road.
