The Indian women's cricket team is all set to take on Ireland in the second One Day International (ODI), with an eye on young talent. India won the first WODI by six wickets, despite fielding an inexperienced side. This win has placed them in a strong position to seal the three-match series in the next game on Sunday.

India secured a dominant six-wicket win over Ireland in the opening one-day international in Rajkot. Skipper Gaby Lewis hit 92 as the tourists posted 238-7 but the tally never looked likely to be enough and Pratika Rawal's 89 helped the hosts clinch victory with 15.3 overs to spare as the first bilateral series between the sides got under way.

The highlight of the squad for the five-match series is the return of pacer Mohammed Shami back to international cricket after 14 months.

Mohammed Shami has returned to the Indian team for the first time since 2023 as he was added to the squad for the upcoming T20I series against England. India decided to leave out Rishabh Pant from the squad as Dhruv Jurel was added as the backup wicketkeeper behind Sanju Samson.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has finally made a comeback to the India squad with his selection for the five T20Is against England starting on January 22 in Kolkata. He returns after last playing for India in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023, after which he had ankle surgery and also suffered from knee-related niggles.
