Ethnic organizations in parts of India’s violence-wracked northeastern state have shut schools and businesses to protest the killings of 10 people by paramilitary soldiers

Authorities in India's north-eastern Manipur state imposed an indefinite curfew after at least 10 militants were shot dead in clashes with government forces. The incident happened after an attack on a police station in the region gripped by ethnic tension.

Bodies of two elderly men were recovered on Tuesday morning in Manipur's Jiribam district where a gunfight between suspected militants and security forces broke out a day before, police said.
