General Motors expects to pioneer a new “groundbreaking” EV battery technology that the automaker says will reduce costs and boost profitability of its largest electric SUVs and trucks.

The automaker is working with LG on 'lithium manganese-rich' batteries, which could bring up to 33% more energy with no price increase on big trucks and full-sized SUVs.

General Motors is teaming up with LG to develop lithium manganese-rich (LMR) batteries for its electric trucks and SUVs. The automaker says that the new chemistry is safer, more energy dense, and less costly than the current technology.
